D-42 | Impact of Body Mass Index on Long-Term Mortality in Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

چکیده
Obesity paradox has been linked to transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) patients in previous studies. Therefore, we set out compare long-term all-cause mortality among various body mass index (BMI) categories undergoing TMVR. Until January 2023, PubMed/Medline, Embase, Scopus, and Google Scholar were searched for studies on cardiovascular outcomes TMVR BMI/Obesity scales (Class 1: 30-34.9 kg/m2, Class 2: 35-39.9 3: ≥40 kg/m2). Random effect models used report pooled 1-year rates. A total of 5 (3 retrospective 2 prospective) including 31,142 (Mean age: 72.2 years, Males: 60%) included the analysis. Obese had higher prevalence hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease compared with normal BMI. In 3 meta-analysis, 1 or obesity did not show risk or, (HR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.22-3.49) following Even, 0.77; 0.15-3.99) when only followed up year. However, was significantly 1.36; 1.08-1.71) long term follow-up [Fig. 1]. Severity years are more important predictors 1-year/long-term predicted nearly 35% HRs considered analysis accounting confounders.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...
متن کاملAssociation between Body Mass Index and Mitral Valve Prolapse
Introduction: Body mass index (BMI) can affect cardiac morphology; however, the relationship between BMI and valvular heart diseases has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study aimed to determine the relationship between BMI and mitral valve prolapse (MVP) as one of the most common valve diseases worldwide. It can help us to better understand pathophysiology of this common disease. Materials ...
متن کاملPredictors of Mortality in Patients Undergoing Mitral Valve Replacement.
OBJECTIVE Although mitral valve replacement is frequently performed in patients of all age groups, there are few studies available which determine the causes of operative mortality in mitral valve replacement especially in our region. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify factors that are significantly associated with operative mortality in mitral valve replacement. METHODS F...
متن کاملEffect of body mass index on clinical outcome and all-cause mortality in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
OBJECTIVES To assess the effect of body mass index (BMI) on outcome among patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) admitted for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). BACKGROUND Being overweight or obese is associated with improved outcome following certain medical treatments, suggesting the existence of a BMI paradox. However, the relationship between BMI and mortality after TAVI r...
متن کاملBody mass index and mortality in kidney transplant recipients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND A higher body mass index (BMI) seems to be linked to survival advantage in maintenance hemodialysis patients. However, it is uncertain if this 'obesity survival paradox' is also observed in kidney transplant recipients. Hence, we systematically reviewed the literature on the impact of pre-transplantation BMI on all-cause mortality in this population. METHODS We searched MEDLINE, EM...
